Hunger Relief Foundation

Waleed Akram is the Director of Operations at the Hunger Relief Foundation.

Being born in Pakistan, Waleed learned about the detrimental effects of food shortages from a young age. Seeing the devastation that these issues brought to local communities, Waleed knew it was his responsibility to alleviate this problem.

Moving to the US in primary school, humanitarian service was always his passion. While pursuing Information Technology at the University of Maryland, Waleed educated and led volunteers as an Event Manager for Terps Against Hunger. Within this role, Waleed worked diligently to battle food insecurity issues in the D.C. Metro Area. As a result of his time in this role, a deep passion was instilled in Waleed to eradicate food shortages worldwide.

Waleed holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Science with a concentration in Data Science. Waleed always had the interests of community at heart and also remembered the plight of Pakistanis and other nations facing global hunger. After his volunteer service, he knew he could put his skills to an organization with more targeted audiences globally.
