Hunger Relief Foundation

Waleed Akram is a Co-founder and the Director of Operations at the Hunger Relief Foundation.

Being born in Pakistan, Waleed learned about the detrimental effects of food shortages from a young age. Seeing the devastation that these issues brought to local communities, Waleed knew it was his responsibility to alleviate this problem.

Moving to the U.S. during primary school, Waleed developed an early passion for humanitarian service. While pursuing Information Technology at the University of Maryland, he served as Event Manager for Terps Against Hunger, where he educated and led volunteers to combat food insecurity in the D.C. Metro Area. This experience instilled in him a deep commitment to eradicating food shortages worldwide. In addition to his humanitarian work, Waleed honed his entrepreneurial skills by leading various ventures, including his family’s business, Metro Management. His unique combination of entrepreneurial experience and humanitarian passion continues to drive his mission to create sustainable solutions that address global hunger and improve lives

Waleed holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Science with a concentration in Data Science. Waleed always had the interests of community at heart and also remembered the plight of Pakistanis and other nations facing global hunger. After his volunteer service, he knew he could put his skills to an organization with more targeted audiences globally.
