Hunger Relief Foundation

Strong will and collective action are needed to reach the 811 million people going to bed hungry each night.

In this day and age, our capabilities to eliminate hunger and malnutrition are enhanced by our strong technical and logistic abilities. Hunger Relief Foundation contributes with new approaches and channels and puts in collective will and expertise across all forums for this cause.

Approximately 90% of international food security and nutrition experts surveyed predict that without innovation and bold action, global hunger will continue to rise over the next decade. However, two-thirds believe achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of zero hunger by 2030 is still possible if current approaches change.

Key recommendations include:

Take a Localized Approach

Local or community-level stakeholders being involved in the approaches to fight hunger have a better impact at root levels

Focus on High-Impact Initiatives

Poverty reducing efforts backed by evidence need to be in prime focus, such as rural youth training programs

Collaboration

Sixty-two percent of survey respondents said that a lack of clear, unified policies around hunger from national governments, donors, and other actors hampers true collaboration.

Transparency

The report reveals a need to overcome challenges affecting hunger-related government programs, including conflicting political priorities, a disconnect between policies and implementation, and lack of funding.

Embrace innovation

New techniques targeting food waste, improvement of value chains, enhanced research and development lead to progress and success.

Our Proactiveness: What are we doing to combat this?

We at Hunger Relief Foundation are actively trying to raise awareness, acquire donations, improve infrastructure and take actions to make victims of hunger self-sustainable.

The UNs Zero Hunger Goal

It is a basic human right to have adequate, safe and nutritious food. Zero hunger is a building block leading to the world becoming a better place for everyone, especially as hunger leads to the limiting of human development. Zero Hunger would also champion other Sustainable development goals and progressively influence these, such as health, social development, education, equality and ultimately entire economies.

We are expanding our global footprint to reach out to those especially facing emergency levels of hunger. Factually, Nigeria, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Yemen, the Congo,  South Asia and Serbia could be facing famine or on the verge of food scarcity.
To win against Hunger, and achieve food security requires cohesive efforts targeting several avenues simultaneously – from the safekeeping of nutritious food for children, to social support to women and working on food systems for better distribution and sustainable world. There will need to be investments in rural and urban areas and in social protection so poor people have access to food and can improve their livelihoods.
